Schedule:
Friday January 8: Car testing, weigh-in, and check-in will be held (Den by Den) during the Pack meeting.
We would like to check-in cars on Friday to eliminate lines and delays on Saturday morning.
Saturday January 9: Weigh-in and check-in will open at 9:00
Racing will begin about 9:45am.
Car Rules: (Cars must meet these rules to be eligible for race trophies)
- The car must be new and built by the Scout with adult supervision.
- The car must be made from the supplied kit: Adding extra material (or items such as lego drivers) for design effects is allowed as long as the car meets the dimensional and weight requirements.
- Size: The car must be no more than 2 3/4 inches wide and 7 inches long. Nothing outside these is allowed.
- Weight: 5 ounces maximum. The Pack scales will be used to determine the Official weight.
- Axles: must be the ones provided with the kit; no solid (one piece) axles are allowed.
- Wheelbase: may not be lengthened beyond the grooves on the kit. You do not have to use the grooves, but
the wheelbase cannot be altered.
- Wheels: must be those supplied with the kit and un-altered. Minor smoothing of molding mark imperfections is
allowed, but the wheels may not be beveled or otherwise re-shaped and the "tread marks" on the face must remain intact. No hubcaps, bearings, bushings or washers are allowed.
- All car parts including weights must be rigidly mounted, i.e. no springs, moving parts or loose lead shot.
- Graphite is the only lubricant allowed.
Note: If a car does not meet all the above rules, it will be allowed to race (Den races only) but will be ineligible for racing trophies. It will be eligible for the “design” awards.
Racing Format:
Den races: A set of races will be run where every car runs on each lane of the track. Since our track has 6 lanes, if a Den
has 6 boys, there will be 6 races. The overall Den winner will be determined by the fastest average time for the races. If
any Dens are combined, the results will be separated by Den so that each Den has a winner determined.
Rank races: The top 6 cars from each rank (based on average times from the Den races) will run a set of races to
determine rank winners.
Pack Finals: The top 6 cars from the rank races (based on average times from the rank races) will run a set of races to
determine the overall Pack winners.
Trophies:
Trophies will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at each of the levels (Den, Rank and Pack).
A trophy will also be given for each of the following design categories.
